How the Covid-19 Pandemic May Be Affecting Your Health
The current coronavirus (COVID-19) may be affecting your health without you knowing. There has been a greater focus on trying to understand the effects of the COVID-19 virus on both our physical and mental health. Most of us can agree on the importance of education and knowing what we can do to protect ourselves and those we care about. By now, we have been well advised by the medical experts and scientists to wear masks or facial coverings, maintain safe social distancing, frequently wash our hands and limit the number of our social contacts and experiences around people. While doing these things to keep physically safe it may come at a emotional cost to our mental health.
Many of us will experience increased anxiety over facing a health risk to ourselves and loved ones. Others, will face depression or increased depression over self-imposed isolation and losing some of our personal freedom. Those with pre-existing conditions such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other disorders may notice an increase in the signs/symptoms associated with their condition. In addition, many individuals are currently trying to cope with loss of employment, income, and their idea of personal normalcy. Remember, you are certainly entitled to feel what you are feeling.
